For one it is hard to execute a decent scorecard framework in huge associations, for example, Intel as it requires solvating for help from individual troughs. Furthermore, responsibility and collaboration from venture supervisors is basic to the accomplishment of extensive adjusted scorecard. This procedure is the multiple times devouring and repetitive. More to that, obstruction from administrators due to and dread of the obscure is additionally a test to actualizing an equalization scorecard, in this manner, top-level supervisors might be hesitant to give sufficient financing to execute a decent scorecard the board framework. Anyway in spite of the difficulties partner with actualizing adjusted scorecards the advantages determined merit the exertion of endeavoring. A decent scorecard can change key destinations to stream sensible assets of exhibitions. This will guarantee that the association endeavors are lined up with statements of purpose and the employeesââ¬â¢ financial specialists and customersââ¬â¢ needs are provided food for. The principal necessity in planning a reasonable scorecard is specifying the targets of the organization relying upon what is wanted at the given second. .( Bain Company, 2002, Stewart, 2000) These targets ought to be taking into account the how the clients see Intel, what Intel centers to exceed expectations at, how the organization may keep on being inventive in making worth, and how the organization plans to change the investor point of view of the organization (Dickinson, 2003). The subsequent advance in planning the decent scorecard is to depict the procedure that Intel needs to execute say better deal with the elusive resources of the organization or guarantee that quality items are provided to clients in time and in right amounts. The other advance is to adjust the interior procedures of the association with system. For this situation, we will be taking a gander at what the organization can exceed expectations in or what it is acceptable at and underwrite in it while pulling endeavors to low performing forms. The following stage will be to allocate obligations to each individual activity. Positive effects of BSC According to the overview led by Bain Consulting Company, organizations that execute a fair scorecard in their administration framework detailed higher resources turnover, decrease in obligation, raised edges just as high stock turnover (Oorschot, 2002, Norton, 2001). Since adjusted scorecards explain associations systems to people in the association, representatives at Intel will be progressively disposed and focused on accomplishing the objectives subsequently meaning higher net revenues for Intel. In addition, Intel will be in a situation to follow budgetary escape clauses inside the association and create measures to seal the provisos. This thusly will prompt paid off past commitments and better distributions of assets. Scorecards give prompt input to administrators who measure the presentation result against dreams and missions set. By receiving a fair scorecard, Intel will be in a situation to improve its techniques intermittently following periodic survey that balance scorecards supplier. Executing a fair scorecard at Intel will guarantee that consideration is similarly agreed to different issues, spare monetary ones, for example, human issues, and give measurements that power the organization to represent more prominent's benefit of the organization. At long last, accomplishment for the organization is ensured. The equalization scorecard foundation puts the significant thought of structuring and actualizing a parity scorecard into point of view by saying, ââ¬Å"A significant thought in execution improvement includes the creation and utilization of execution measures or markers. Execution measures or markers are quantifiable attributes of items, administrations, procedures, and tasks the organization uses to follow and improve execution. The measures or markers ought to be chosen to best speak to the variables that lead to improved client, operational, and money related execution. A far reaching set of measures or pointers attached to client as well as organization execution necessities speaks to a reasonable reason for adjusting all exercises to the companys objectives. Through the investigation of information from the following procedures, the measures or markers themselves might be assessed and changed to more readily bolster such objectives. â⬠(Arveson, 1998) Balanced scorecards are execution the board apparatuses and Intel Company could profit by estimating the presentation of the organization now and in future. Not at all like previously, where it was impractical to check the soundness of the business, and along these lines not know the future remaining of the business, actualizing a fair scorecard will guarantee that markers bring up whether the organization is set out toward and create relief endeavors to forestall this. Another advantage of a fair score minded is that its utilization is perfect with other existing administration frameworks. EVA, SVA, EFQM, IAM and Business greatness model, can be connected to adjusted scorecards. In the event that the administration feels uncomfortable to drop the various money related measures. Ordinarily adjusted scorecard is at the focal point of the administration frameworks since it s simple to utilize component. What are they?Guest Posting â" Posting an article on another blog, as a âguestâ. Thus called Guest Posting. A guest post usually gives you 1 â" 2 dofollow links at the end of the article.Social Media â" Using social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus to promote your blog. Using social media may have different results based on the person.Pros and Cons of Guest Posting/BloggingProsHave around 2 dofollow links â" These links are placed at the end of the article, and thus are sure guaranteed to be seen by the readers.Have author description â" The description tells people about you, and your work, that other types may not offer. The links are valued more than others â" You may think, that a link in the comments will give you same credibility of the link in the article, so guest posting would be useless. Actually, that is wrong, and links in the article are valued more by Google. Moreover, links in the comments are usually nofollow, which gives no actual SEO benefit. Then, links in the comment have less chance of being clicked, whereas links in the end have more chance of being clicked, thus having more authority.Target Audience posting guarantees that your links are shown to the target audience. This means, that if you have an SEO blog, and write a post about SEO, the only visitors will be the people searching about SEO, not something entirely different.ConsThe most obvious disadvantage is that you have to write a big, long, suitable article everytime, for the actual owner of the blog. This is not necessary in other methods. You have to contact the admin, which could take time, and thus results arenât instant.READSmall But Effective Ways To Promote Your BusinessConclusionThe links in the author description are high valued by Google and Readers alike. No need of doing something tough.Mass exposure If you have 200 friends, you got your link to 200 people, with no actual work.Easy to spread the word Your post has chances of going viral, and thus getting loads and loads of readers with this method.ConsThe post is not shown to target audience. Even if you have 20 â" 30 people familiar with the topic, there will be only a few that click the link. Maybe because the info presented in that article is known to them, or they just miss the link.ConclusionUpon reading this article, it would be obvious that only a certain type of people get benefits from the methods. Guest Posting is always appreciated, and if you are a good writer, then you can establish trust. It is a bit difficult, I agree, but it gives you an SEO boost if not readers.Using Social Media is very easy, you can get views, but they are not guaranteed. Thus, we can say that Guest Posting is great for people of all types, but they do need to have a bit of writing flair. Social media may not prove beneficial to those who do not have friends intereste d in the topic, but if they have a page, with good number of likes, and they post the link there, it is sure to attract some attention, and get readers. What Are The Facts? What Are The Issues (Non-Ethical)? Who Is Affected? What Are The Ethical Issues And Their Implications? What Can Be Done About It? What Are The Options? Which Option Is The Best And Why? Answers: 1.The title of this video is Early Launch. It starts with a scenario where the Program Director of the company is talking over the phone with the Chief Information Officer ("Scenario 3: Early Launch", 2017). Then the Project Manager enters the room. The Program Director informs him that the Chief Executive Officer of the company is creating pressure on the Chief Information Officer regarding early delivery of the Willis project. The CIA of the company even asked the Program Director whether their team will be able to deliver the Willis project one month earlier by eliminating the encryption part of the project. The CIA was worried whether the client company will sign the next contract or not whose worth is over and above 3 million. In reply the Project Manager said that according to Jason, the Senior Developer of the company, encryption is an important requirement for the Willey system that is needed to done. The Program Director on the other hand said that the chances of the system to get hacked is very little and if they deliver the project earlier then this will open several opportunities for the company in future. The situation depicted tension and dilemma between the Program director and the Project Manager of the company. 2.The scenario depicts an IT based company. There is a confusion regarding what can be done. The Program Director suggests that if the project team delivers the project one month earlier then there will be several opportunities for the company as well as the team. Delivering the project earlier will convince the client company to sign the next contract whose worth is more than 3 million. The company will definitely gain and even the project team will earn huge bonuses. The project team can deliver the Willis project one month earlier by not including the encryption part and later on attach encryption software after few weeks (Stallings Tahiliani, 2014). The Project manager on the other hand has a different point of view. According to him, encryption is an essential part of the Willey system and not encrypting it can cause serious trouble for the client company. It will also affect the reputation of the vendor company. 3.There is a severe non ethical issue in this matter. The ethics of encryption is an important part of organization or business ethics (Bellwood et al., 2014). When a vendor company delivers software, then it is the key responsibility of the client company to incorporate the security matter in the software project that it is delivering. If the company delivers the Willis project without encryption then it is a major non ethical issue in the security of the business organization. This will show that the company is not responsible enough to take care of the security of its client. Later on if the software of the Willey system gets hacked, then this will cause a loss of several sensitive data of the client company. If the vendor company does not encrypt the software that it is delivering to the client company just to deliver it before one month, then this becomes a non ethical issue in terms of business security and safety. 4.If the vendor company delivers the Willis project to the client company without encrypting it then there will a lot affected people. First of all, if the unprotected and unencrypted software gets hacked then this will cause a severe loss of sensitive information. This will in turn affect millions of people whose sensitive data is lost. Millions of people might lose their financial and other important information to the hackers. This can spoil the entire life of the people. Secondly, if the system gets hacked then the vendor companys reputation will fall to a great extent. Other companies will not give them any contracts in the future and this will generate huge loss for the vendor company. Delivering a product that is not secured and protected will not reflect well on the company. This will harm the company in future. The company will either have to shut down or will run at huge loss (Bednarz, 2013). If the client company files a complaint against the vendor company then this will lead to legal proceedings which will be extremely harmful for the company. So it can be concluded that it will affect the people whose data is stolen and also the vendor company in terms of their reputation. 5.There are several ethical issues in this scenario. The Program Director agrees to what the Project Manager says and delivers a safe and secured product to the client company. In this case the code of business ethics is followed. Though the vendor company does not deliver the product before the given deadline but it delivers a product that is safe and reliable. This will be good for the company in the future. Another issue can be that the Project Manager agrees to what the Director says and delivers the product before time but with no encryption. Here the implication can be severe. Later on when the system gets hacked then it not only affects the millions of users but also the project team of the company along with the reputation of the company. There can be another ethical issue that is the Project Manager disagrees to provide non encrypted software to the client (Martin, 2017). Here the project manager can be removed from this responsibility. This will demotivate the employees of the company. 6.There are several possibilities that can be done about this situation. The Project Director can agree with the Project Manager and explains the CIA regarding the need of encryption in the company. In this case, the company will deliver the project within the original deadline but will not be able to deliver one month earlier. But on the other hand the company will not lose its reputation and will do well in the future (Lazo Strider, 2015). This will result in giving high protection to the data and also raise the reputation of the company. The Project director must have faith on the Project Manager and follow no shortcut approach. 7.There are three options available in the video. First option is that the Project Manager agrees to what the Project director says and then they proceed to deliver the project before one month without encryption of the software. The consequence of this is dangerous in case of any hack in the future. The reputation of the company is spoilt. And on the other hand the job of the Project Manager is at risk. The second option is that the Project Manager disagrees with the Project Director. Here the Project Manager is taken off from the project. This will lead to dissatisfaction of employees in the organization (Franks Davis, 2015). The third option is that the Project Director agrees with the Project Manager and does not follow any shortcut. Here the companys reputation is maintained and there will not be any loss of sensitive data in the future. This will be ethically correct. 8.The best option for the company is to encrypt the software and then deliver it. This is the best option because this is ethically correct. This will not only protect the users from any loss but also will protect the company from loss of reputation ("Scenario III 3 Program Director Listens to team", 2017). The company will deliver a safe and reliable project to the client. This will enhance its reputation. This option will help in maintaining the ethics of the business and organization. This soon led to the use of hallucinogens. I soon realized I knew all and I did not need school any longer. This led to a dilemma. In the state of Florida you must attend school until the age of sixteen, where I was only fifteen. So the next step was either attend school or get shipped off. Obviously, in my state of mind, I wasn't thinking all to clearly and decided to be shipped off. By shipped off, I mean sent away to a rehabilitation institution. My parents knew of this place from my best friend Sennecca, who attended this rehabilitation the year before. I soon found myself on a plane heading for the snowy caps of Utah. This is where I would spend the next year and a half of my life. When the plane landed, two large men wearing black suits picked me up. I found this somewhat interesting, along with a slight feeling of fear. After being escorted through the airport, we arrived at a white van where I then sat for the next five hours while we drove to the middle of nowhere. Once arriving at this dystopia, I had then realized I had made a horrible mistake. Numerous kids walking around in bright orange suits gave me this first clue. I would later find that this was the beginning of the end. Almost immediately after I had arrived, I heard a voice that I would later recognize to be Tom, the man in charge. ?Look at what we got here,? Tom shouted. ?A dime a dozen,? I then heard him utter under his breath. I soon realized what he meant by this when I looked around and saw many others obviously here for the same reason I was. ?Get your stuff, you're staying in cabin Fifteen.? Tom yelled. I then went on to meet my beautiful habitat that I would be living in for the next year and a half. This boarding school worked on a system that is nearly indescribable. The main rule of thumb was to watch your own back and maintain good behavior without making staff, or peers, think you're a butt kisser. Also make sure you kept your room clean along with everything in it and around it. If by chance you broke any of these rules you would either be working out at five in the morning on Saturday and Sunday, or your peers would be jumping you. After about three months of keeping my nose clean, my best friend Sennecca offered to send me a package. I wearily accepted, knowing that the contents would most likely get me into trouble. Sure enough, my streak was ruined when my supposed best friend, who knew how the system worked, sent me a carton of cigarettes concealed in a pillow. I was soon uncloaked and received my punishment by becoming level one. This was the lowest level you could possibly be, similar to dirt. I then had to work every day from three in the afternoon till about ten at night. Then on my weekend mornings I had to wake up at exactly five in the morning to do a three hour-long workout, followed by a ten-mile hike. Let me tell you about fun, hike ten miles up a mountain in the blistering cold with snow up to your knees. I remember having a fever during the time I was level one; this meant I would have to complete a workout while being extremely sick. I remember going to the nurse the night before and telling her, ?I don't think I will make it if you guys make me workout.? I then remember her replying, ?Well then we would have one less kid, wouldn't we.? I then went to my room and prepared for the horrible travail I was about to encounter. I then took my temperature, reading one hundred and one, and went to bed. I soon woke up to, ?Morning pansies, rise and shine!? When the work out began, I instantly knew I wasn't going to make it. When I was going up on my thirty-second pushup, I collapsed. It means full acceptance, even celebration of anothers personhood. In Jane Austens early nineteenth century novel, Persuasion, Austen depicts a simplistic story about love and anticipation. Persuasion is one of Austens most romantic books, but it is also her last novel. Jane Austen was in her last few years because of an illness within her. While writing Persuasion, Austen attempts to show to the world her growth as a writer and as a person. She has matured and accepted her fate. Different emotions can cause positive or negative reactions and consequences. Love engenders maturity. Love is defined in many ways. For instance, there are people are satisfied working just to earn a monthly wage and there are others with more aspiration who work even harder so that they can get promoted and receive incentives. Of course, there are also external distractions that can affect the performance of a member, such as, moonlighting. This is because he is constantly thinking about other commitments and taking on a part-time job is physically and mentally exhausting. A different mix of personalities in a team does not necessarily spell doom, so long as all members remain motivated and have the same goal congruence. Therefore, identifying a strong leader within a team that knows how to motivate and reward each member based on their needs is crucial. Constant communication and feedback will also ensure that the team is still in the same page. Having a good leader to delegate tasks equally, so that members receive a sense of common purpose and to avoid members feeling left out, is also important. Macroeconomic analysts measure unemployment using rates that show the number of people available in the labor force who do not find work. These analysts observe that unemployment rates fall with progressive growth in the economy (Mankiw 26). Progressive economic growth manifests in the growth rate of a countryââ¬â¢s gross domestic product. Rising gross domestic product indicates an increase in national output, hence, the need for many laborers to sustain the increased level of production. Employment reports impacts trends in different sectors of the economy including the currency and bond markets (Rittenberg 530). Inflation is the rate at which prices of goods and services in a country rise. Macroeconomic analysts measure inflation using the consumer price index and the gross domestic product deflator. The consumer price index captures the prices of a given number of goods at a given time (Mankiw 13). The gross domestic product deflator is a fraction of the nominal gross domestic product and the real gross domestic product. A rise in the prices of services and goods results from an instance where the nominal gross domestic product is bigger than the real gross domestic product. A change in the consumer price index corresponds to a change in the gross domestic product deflator with a difference of less than one percent (Rittenberg Jeff Figueroahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684154216011628996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3346326516842464439.post-18947544585773366312020-01-28T11:05:00.001-08:002020-01-28T11:05:03.068-08:00How to Analyze Sources and InformationHow to Analyze Sources and Information By Riley Kohl à à Today, we live in a world that runs on information. Information is gathered, shared, bought, and sold. More and more, individuals are consuming vast amounts of information and using it to shape themselves and the way they perceive the world around them. In our journey to reach new heights of understanding, we construct for ourselves a tall watchtower, with each brick being a new piece of information. Far too often, however, we dont ask ourselves a crucial question: what if this new brick has cracks? My goal is to explain why you need to be able to appraise the quality of the information you consume and to give you the tools to do so reliably and efficiently. A Growing Need One of the most commonly used sources of information is the news, specifically the mainstream media. In recent years, there has been a gradual, observable decline in the quality of journalism. Noticing this, the American people have subsequently displayed a gradual decline in the level of trust they place in the mainstream medias ability to report information in a trustworthy and unbiased manner. In a Gallup poll conducted in 2016 with a random sample of 1,020 adults, only 32% professed to having a great deal or a fair amount of trust in the mainstream media.[1] A graph of this trend is provided in Figure 1. A Practical Demonstration In order to better grasp the methodologies of information analysis, and the need for such skills, a practical demonstration is best. On November 20, 2015, CNN published an article alleging that President-elect Donald Trump made a definitive statement regarding the implementation of a Muslim database.[2] Several hours later, an article was published by the Gateway Pundit claiming that the conclusions presented by the CNN article were based on falsified evidence.[3] Figure 2 provides a side- by-side view of the article headlines. This leads to the first, and most important, critical rule of information analysis: no source is above scrutiny because no source is infallible. CNN is a major media outlet. The first reaction of the average person would be to simply trust them over the Gateway Pundit, a relatively unknown source. The CNN article also provides a video which seems to support the claim presented in the headline. The two most notable arguments presented by the Gateway Pundit article are that the CNN video is heavily edited and that the reporter deliberately pushed a vague, unspecific question. The first step the reader must take at this point is to watch, or re-watch, the CNN video. It is clear that the video is edited, but this practice is not unusual. Videos provided in articles and reports are often edited for time purposes, cutting out unnecessary information in order to deliver the important information in a timely manner. Thus, we arrive at the second critical rule: when in doubt, consult the raw data. This is not always an easy task. In scientific reports, the raw data is often extensive or presented in a format that is difficult for laymen to understand. News articles, on the other hand, often draw their data from raw video or official statements. Given the positions presented by the two articles, at most only one of them can be correct. Therefore, at least one of these articles must be false. The result of this is that a person who believes the false article will likely form an opinion on Donald Trump, then a Presidential candidate. This newly assimilated information might affect a choice of action taken by the reader, such as who they vote for, which could have consequences as significant as deciding the next political leader of the United States of America. Placed in this perspective, it is clear that information and misinformation can be a powerful, dangerous forces. It is imperative that they a re properly evaluated by the readers. Methodologies for Appraising Information Some of the simplest methods for appraising the quality of an information source involve asking basic questions. These include confirming whether or the not source is unbiased, comprehensive, current, and clear.[4] While the latter questions are fairly simple, the question of bias is a tricky beat to handle. Bias is fundamentally difficult to avoid when writing, or choosing not to write, articles or reports. These are written by human beings, who have their own ingrained outlooks and opinions on the world. Additionally, the existence of bias extends outside the article itself, into the meta realm of publication. There can exist a bias in what information is published and what information is not. A news outlet might choose to only report on the legitimate scandals of a political figure and publish nothing regarding their accomplishments. Even though the published articles may be true, the bias still exists. A very common misconception is that the authorship of an information source is a good measure of its quality or trustworthiness. While this can serve as a significant, time-saving shortcut, it can also lull the reader into a false sense of security. The most well-respected news outlet can publish erroneous articles, and the most sensational tabloid can publish articles containing nothing but the truth. A final concept to note, before proceeding to a more orderly listing of methodologies, is the writing itself. The writing styles of information sources can vary widely based on their intended audience and purpose. A scientific report on geological predictions based on survey data will vary in appearance and flow from a news article reporting on a recent crime wave. Despite this, the hallmark of a good article lies with its objective reasoning. There should be a clear logical flow from the raw information being cited to the final conclusions drawn and presented by the author.[5] Faulty logic or subtle fallacies can take factual evidence and output misleading conclusions. A Simple Checklist for Appraising Sources Ask yourself the three Cs: Is it comprehensive, clear, and current? Look to see if the source has a logical flow of objective reasoning. Identify the purpose of the article. What is the writer trying to convey? Identify any potential for bias. Does the author have an underlying motive? Cross-reference with alternative sources. Consult the raw data if necessary. Remember that is is alright to decide that no definitive conclusions can be drawn from insufficient sources. Works Cited [1] Gallup, Inc. Suddenly Sara stopped and claimed that she heard a noice of a rock falling down from the mountain beside them, but Kevin assured her that it was perfectly okay for them to continue their walk, since he was enjoying it so much. Just a second after he spoke those words a loud noise shoke the ground and before they even had time to react, massive rocks were flying down f rom the cliff just beside them. They threw themselves against a big tree next to the path as rocks kept falling down and dust started to fill the air. The horrible moment seemed to last foreverâ⬠¦.. At last it stopped, and everything turned dead silence. After a few seconds a voice was heard shouting: ââ¬Ëââ¬â¢Sara , are you okay? Where are you? It was Kevin ofcourse. He was lying under the tree, and seemed to be safe and sound despite the horrible incident. A few seconds went by without an answer from Sara. He started panicing and shouting, even louder and more anxious than before. Then silently, but still, a wage sound was heard. Kevin jumped up from the place he was lying on and started to look around. There, on the path, under a pile of rocks he saw a red thing but he couldnââ¬â¢t distinguish what it was. Coming closer, he saw that Sara was lying there and that the red was from her T-shirt which she wore that day. He quickly grabbed the biggest rock on top and started to push, at first it was all still which made Kevin again to panic. With all his force he pushed once again and now it slowly started to move and finally, after an heroic effort the rock slid off and Sara could get loose. She miraculously was also without any severe injuries and hugged Kevin harder than ever before, and they agreed that they wonââ¬â¢t ignore signs they donââ¬â¢t understand ever again. Mental or psychological instability or illness, and/or substance abuse often contribute to the abusive behavior, complicating matters even more, and and making rehabilitation much more difficult. If the abuse violation is considered low level, the abuser may possibly be permitted to remain within the home while treatment takes place, as long as steady improvement is observed and no further abuse occurs. This is normally decided on a case by case basis. The definition of low level varies according to local laws, but one example would be mild incidences of neglect, as opposed to actual physical or sexual abuse or exploitation, or more severe cases of neglect. Instances in which the abuse has become more serious usually require removal and temporary relocation of the child, or removal of the abuser, until such time as the offender is determined to be rehabilitated. Requirements vary depending on locale, but in all instances, there are specific conditions that must be satisfied before the family is reunited. It was built to protect the labor rights of teachers, paraprofessionals, school-related personnel, local, state, and federal employees, higher education faculty and staff, as well as nurses and other healthcare-related professionals. AFT was formed after many previous attempts at forming a national labor union for teachers had failed. It was formed after three local unions from Chicago and one from Indiana met to organize. They were supported by teachers from Oklahoma, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C. The founding members decided to seek out a charter from the American Federation of Labor which they also received in 1916. The AFT struggled in the early years with membership and grew slowly. The idea of collective bargaining in education was discouraged, thus many teachers did not want to join, due to the local political pressure they received. Local school boards led campaigns against the AFT which led many teachers to leave the union. Membership declined significantly during this time. The American Federation of Teachers did include African Americans in their membership. This was a bold move as they were the first union to offer full membership to minorities. The AFT fought hard for the rights of their African American members including equal pay, rights to be elected to a school board, and the right for all African American students to attend school. It also filed an amicus brief in the historic Supreme Court case over desegregation, Brown v Board of Education in 1954. By the 1940s, membership had begun to gain momentum. With that momentum came controversial union tactics including a strike by the St. Paul chapter in 1946 which eventually led to collective bargaining as an official policy by the American Federation of Teachers. Over the next several decades, the AFT left its mark on many educational policies and on the political realm in general as it grew into a powerful union for teacher rights. Membership The AFT started began with eight local chapters. Today they have 43 state affiliates and over 3000 local affiliates and have grown into the second-largest educational labor union in the United States. The AFT has focused on the inclusion of organizing workers outside the PK-12 education field. Today they boast 1.5 million members and include PK-12th-grade school educators, higher education faculty and professional staff, nurses and other healthcare-related employees, state public employees, educational paraprofessionals, and other school support members, and retirees. The AFT headquarters are located in Washington D.C. The AFTââ¬â¢s current annual budget is over $170 million dollars. Mission The mission of the American Federation of Teachers is, ââ¬Å"to improve the lives of our members and their families; to give voice to their legitimate professional, economic and social aspirations; to strengthen the institutions in which we work; to improve the quality of the services we provide; to bring together all members to assist and support one another, and to promote democracy, human rights and freedom in our union, in our nation and throughout the world.â⬠Important Issues The American Federation of Teachersââ¬â¢ motto is, ââ¬Å"A Union of Professionalsâ⬠. Answer: Introduction: According to Brodie et al. (2012), volunteer tourism is a concept of tout that is generally organised for a charitable cause. Volunteer tourism includes several types of travel those engage people with scientific research and education purpose in order to promote understanding and action for sustainable environment of the world. On the other hand, Wang (2014) argued that volunteer tourism is a new representation of a type of tourism that is emerging within the competitive sector of tourism. Volunteer tourism is providing the opportunity to those people who want to make a difference at the time of vacation. This type of tourism also ensures that the local communities can provide benefit on both environment and economic structure. This type of tourism is the fastest growing trend within tourism sector. Volunteering tourism is also made for some charitable cause for the people and the animal of the place. As stated by, Boyce (2013) various types of organisation has taken initiative in order to run volunteer tourism for the people. World Wildlife Fund, Antipodeans, Conservation International, Australian Volunteer etc are the organisations who promote this type of tourism to the interested people of the location. This assignment has discussed about conservation strategy for Australian tourist market. This assignment has discussed various types of modern conversation strategy for ensuring safety and life security to the wildlife animals. As argued by, Griffith (2012) in the current global situation the vast numbers of animal species are becoming endangered. Therefore, the action must be taken by human being in order to maintain the lives of the animals. This can maintain the diversity of the world by saving the life of the animals and endangered species. In the modern world, the modern types of zoo have grown throughout the world. The zoos are challenging and becoming a powerful force fo r conservation. Various types of networks are there in order to take initiative for saving the life of animals and endangered species. Various types of NGO of several countries have taking initiative for saving the life of animals and maintaining diversity in the world. This can help in order to maintain biological diversity among the human beings and the animals of world. On the other hand, Hennessy (2013) argued that maintaining the ecological bio-diversity is very important for the sake of the environment of world. The population of the world must save the lives of animal as well as endangered species in order to maintain the sound ecological balance of the world. The food chain needs to be maintained properly for the living of consumers and consumed within the ecology of world. Ecological balance needs to be maintained by the effective effort of human being for saving the lives of animals. In this case, the volunteering tourism is very effective in order to maintain the lives of animals. Many animal lovers and adventures people often take risk for the sake of the animals or the local communities of a forest. They often contribute some donation for the sake of the animals of sanctuaries while travelling the particular space. They love to take responsibilities for the habitant of the animals of the forest area or the reserved area. They may be a part of an NGO or individual or group of adventures people. On the other hand, Hussey (2014) opined that the actual meaning of volunteer tourism is the practice o individuals or group is working on a holiday or travel trip in order to volunteer their labour in order to provide worthy causes for the sake of society and the habitant of the society. Volunteer tourism can be also called as alternative tourism. Volunteer tourism has grown popular by the time. However, the increasing term of this type of tourism has often faced problem of dissatisfaction as well as lack of accountability. In this case, the research and development process is also very important for the sake of the people among the society. On the other hand, Jeguirim et al. (2012) argued that the changing growth of volunteerism and the experience of volunteers are affecting upon the volunteer travelling across the world. Most of the volunteer tourism involves a secure combination of voluntary work and travel. They are making donations for the sake of the people. According to the survey report of the various organisations, it has been find that 300 organisations are there in order to maintain the activities of volunteer tourism within the world. Most of the people who use to travel for volunteering cause are not so low in quantity. The numbers of the volunteers are 8500 across the various countries of the world. Apart from organised volunteer activities, there are also unorganised volunteer activities throughout the world. On the other hand, Hussey (2014) argued that there are emerging trends of volunteering activities that have concerned by various types of ethical issues. Literature review: Conservation strategy: According to Stokstad (2014), ) conservation activities are grouped by two main categories. Those are in situ conservation and ex situ conservation. In situ conversation refers to that type of conservation that is carried out the natural habit of animals. The other name of this type of conversation is field conservation. On the other hand, MERETSKY and FISCHMAN (2014) discussed about the ex situ conversation of animals that refers to the breeding of the animals in the conservation space. It is called as conservation breeding also. On the other hand, as argued by, Rissman (2013) conversation strategy can be of two types, like direct conservation that are supported by field studies and wildlife program. On the other hand, indirect conversation is included with change of attitude and behaviour of the authority towards the conservation of wildlife. Early concept of zoo only satisfied the people who had gone to take fun by seeing the animal in the cage. However, this type of zoo culture can harm the real living of the animals. According to Liu (2011), modern zoo concept therefore tries to respect the animal and the real live hood of those animal. Modern conversation strategy includes landscape zoo (Nuremberg), adventure park (Hannover) and aquariums. Wildlife sanctuaries, breeding facilities are the modern strategy of conservation of the animal. On the other hand Liu (2011), opined that modern conservation strategy also includes proper communication method like education and training to the local habitant of the place where a wildlife sanctuary is made for the sake of the animal. Local zoos and field conservation projects are also essential for the better life of the habitants or animals. Modern conservation strategy also includes various types of small zoos and local field projects in order to help the zoos and aquariums of the place. Concept of STP: STP refers to segmentation, targeting and positioning of an organisation. As per the discussion of, Berman et al. (2012), segmentation refers to four types of segmentation. Those are Demographic segmentation, behavioural segmentation, geographical segmentation and psychographic segmentation. Every organisation needs to segment properly the market in order to understand the behaviour of the people within the market sector. Segmentation helps the organisation in order to identify meaningful groups of customers. On the other, hand San Josa et al. (2014) argued that the concept of targeting refers to the selection of proper and right segment that is to be served by the organisation. Positioning refers to the implementation of the chosen strategy of the chosen segment within the selected market segment. According to Rissman (2013), the volunteers of tourist are having the various motivational themes of cultural immersion, giving back and bonding opportunities. In the case of volunteer tourism, the market segmentation can be done through Demographic segmentation, behavioural segmentation, geographical segmentation and psychographic segmentation of volunteer tourists of the market. Demographic segmentation has been discussed by, Burress (2014) as the generation of tourists. Volunteer tourism therefore can appeal to the wide variety of people. However, the most relevant targeted audience for market segmentation is the young generation of the market who loves adventure and has an attitude of charity for a noble cause. Many students of travel and tourism also take part in this type of volunteer travel. Various adventures people also take part in the process of volunteer tourism. On the other hand, various people who love to serve people within the society are taking part in the process of volunteer tourism. Travellers from various countries who want to serve for the region take part in this type of volunteer service in order to provide voluntee ring service to the society. Travellers also want to change the existing situation of that particular travel space can join in volunteer ravelling. Various students during their school or college project travel for volunteering activities. The students are the most relevant segment for this type of volunteering tourism. On the other hand, Burress (2014) argued that, behavioural segmentation is very important and essential for the process of effective market segmentation within the competitive sector of market. The mentality and behaviour of the tourists can cause upon the effective operation of volunteering tourism. In the case of volunteering tourist, the people who have love for the people or animal in the particular travel field are related with this type of service. Various people are there who have intention to serve the habitant of the people of the locality. As argued by,Davis et al. (2013) various animal lovers also has included in the behavioural segmentation of the market segmentation of the competitive sector of volunteering tourism sector. On the other hand, Tran (2014) argued that geographical segmentation is also required for the volunteering tourism sector. Geographical segmentation refers to the level of proximity within the people of the particular place of travel. The people who live nearer to the place of travel are the targeted audience of the organisation. However, various types of tourists also come from various corners of the world that has the noble cause for serving the place of travel (Biaza.org.uk, 2015). According to Stokstad (2014), psychological segmentation is also required for ensuring success within the tourists. Primarily, adventures, daring people take part in this type of tour. Targeting the right people after segmenting them in accordance with the project of the organisation is very important action. For this purpose, research and market analysis and analysis of the each segment of tourists are very helpful in order to attract the targeted tourists. The last stage of STP is positioning the plan within the targeted people of this plan. Various promotional activities can be arranged by the organisation in order to place the plan of project within the group of tourist. The organisation can promote their plan of project through advertisement and online advertisement (Npr.org, 2015). STP plan for Australian tourist market: As argued by, Tran (2014) STP refers to segmentation, targeting and positioning of the definite products and services of the organisation. Market segmentation refers to the segmenting of definite market of the products and services of the organisation. On the other hand, Liu (2011) argued that, the target market needs to be segmented by the organisation as per the requirement of the marketing and promotion mix of the organisation. Targeting the proper segment of the market is very necessary for the benefit of the organisation. Positioning the products and services of the organisation are very necessary for the organisation in order to promote the products and services through the various activities of promotion and advertisements. Various types of promotional mix and advertising mix are important and necessary for the organisation in order to promote the definite products and services within the competitive sector of organisation. The market segmentation for Australian tourist market: The nature and attributes of the services is the necessary thing for segmenting the market of the volunteer tourism. The potential size and ability of the target market of tourists is the important for the benefit of the organisation in order to place the service of the organisation. The segmentation of the volunteer tourists are of young generation of the locality. These are the target people of the market segmentation of the volunteer tourism of various types of organisation. Apart from this, many animal lovers, daring attitudes and adventured people are the target people of this market segmentation. The tourism of Australia has provided a number of resources, services and programs. It also involved various types of collaborating opportunities within the world. The primary group of Australian tourists are aged 25-34. Those are very adventures people. On the other hand, the secondary group are the independent travellers those are aged 18-24 and those are mainly independent travellers. (Waza.org, 2015). The targeting technique for Australian Tourist Market: As argued by, Burress (2014) efficient and effective market analysis is helpful in order to attain the market segmentation of the volunteering tourists. The organisation of Indonesia can analyse that the facilities and project planning of the organisation can benefit the target tourists of the Australia. Targeting the right people after segmenting them in accordance with the project of the organisation is very important action. For this purpose, research and market analysis and analysis of the each segment of tourists are very helpful in order to attract the targeted tourists. The positioning technique for Australian Tourist market: On the other hand,Wang (2014) argued that the particular organisation can arrange various types of promotional activities within the segment of its target people in order to place the plan of project within the group of tourist. The organisation can promote their plan of project through advertisement and online advertisement. The concept of positioning can involve the various types of utilization of different marketing mix in accordance with thoughts and perceptions of the volunteer tourists while positioning the services of tourism within the particular segment of the market. The action of market positioning also depends upon the available funds of the organisation. Australia can be called as the land of wonders so the process of communication needs to be ensured within the tourists for giving volunteering service. On the other hand, Brodie et al. (2012) discussed about the development of communication within the targeted audience and the organisational activities in accordance with the volunteering activities of the definite organisation. Communication is the most effective and efficient tool for every organisation in order to target the proper market of segmentation. The segmented market can be included by the various activities of communication. For this purpose, efficient and innovative ways for communication is necessary for the organisation in order to achieve the success within the competitive sector of tourism market. The Indonesian organisation of volunteering tourism can take several actions in order to ensure various types of promotional activities for placing the services among the target market segmentation of the organisation. Several types of promotional activities can be arranged by the organisation for placing the definite services to the tourists of Australia. This organisation can take initiative in order to arrange a seminar in accordance with volunteering tourism and related topics. This organisation can also promote its motto of volunteering tourism within the various organised travel fairs of the locality. The travel fairs and the tourism fair is the most attractive and effective way of ensuring and promoting various types of activities within the organisation. The organisation can promote a stall with some magazines and journals in order to promote various types of activities within the organisation. The articles and write-ups about various activities of volunteering activities can be discussed through the journals and books of the organisation. These can be an effective and relevant source in order to promote information about the organisation and the various activities of the organisation in accordance with the volunteering tourism of various people. Apart from these techniques, the Indonesian organisation can also take effective use of advertising through various medium of communication, like television, radio, online as well as outdoors also. This organis ation can also use the help of YouTube by uploading the video of the organisation in accordance with the previous activities of volunteering tourism. Conclusion: This assignment has focussed upon the Orangotan Foundation of Indonesia. This organisation specially arranges travel tour for the volunteers who can assist in order to reconstruct the buildings and fences in order to secure the lives of wild orang-utan. The mission statement of Orangutan Foundation of Indonesia is to provide information about the organisation that this organisation is taking initiative for only saving the lives of Orang-utan. This organisation is going beyond purely protecting the lives of Orang-utan. This organisation also focuses upon the fact that Orang-utan is also a unique habitant of the locality for its rich bio-diversity. On the other hand, with the placement of Orang-utan is also crucial for the local communities. However, this organisation is taking initiative for the life of both the Orang-utan and the local communities of the locality. The local people are also dependent upon the forest and the capabilities of forest. This organisation has targeted the vo lunteer tourists of Australia. Apart from theses, the assignment has also discussed STP for the Australian Market. This assignment has also focused upon the concept of volunteer tourism and segmentation, targeting and positioning. According to the analysis, the author has recommended a STP (segmentation, targeting and positioning) plan for the Indonesian organisation that is named as Orangotan foundation. This foundation has implemented the plan for targeting the Australian market of travellers who will enjoy the service of serving the Orangotan. Australia is a land of wonders and the people of this region are very enthusiastic in order to provide volunteering tourism across the world. Unfortunately, according to Abell and Schmid (2003) many community college students attend these institutions without ever becoming involved. There are many factors that contribute to studentââ¬â¢s lack of involvement on campus, ranging from employment, family obligations, commuter status to lack of awareness that such resources even exist. Regardless of which factor is responsible for the lack of student engagement on campus, the issue is problematic. However, this paper will focus on the benefits that are associated with involvement in student support programs and extracurricular activities, in hopes it will create an interest for students to become involved on campus. We will write a custom essay on Student Support Programs And Extracurricular Activities specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Academic benefitsCommunity Colleges offer a variety of student support services and extracurricular activities that assist students with academic support. For example, there are programs like PUENTE, TRIO, CalWORKs, Guardian Scholars, EOPS and others that contribute to studentââ¬â¢s efforts towards academic persistence. Many of these programs offer specialized academic counseling and access to in program tutoring services that help prepare students to be academically ready for college. In addition to student support programs, clubs and athletics are also extracurricular activities which influence academic growth and prosperity among students. As Cooper (2010) states ââ¬Å"A modest body of research suggests that student support services play a role in promoting successful outcomes for community college studentsâ⬠(p.22). Student engagement in programs and activities give students the opportunity to. .that in her study, ââ¬Å"participants most meaningful contact was with instructors on campus, many of whom invited students into the higher education ââ¬Å"clubâ⬠by creating feelings of comfort, support, and respectâ⬠(p. 40). According Leah A. Barrett (2014), she explained in her dissertation that individuals in community college obtain their ââ¬Å"informationâ⬠, both academic and social, via informal networks, such as from alumni of the school. Catherine Flaga explains that the informal networks are used as ââ¬Å"a highly utilized resource for learning about the academic, social, and physical environments of the university (p.10)â⬠. Take into account the strong relationship that students have with instructors and the positive benefit that alumni have supporting current students are important points to consider of the social aspects present for a studentââ¬â¢s success in community college. His methods were so heinous, that forensic psychologists dubbed him one of the evilest killers in history. Westley Dodds Childhood Years Westley Allan Dodd was born in Washington State on July 3, 1961. Dodd grew up in what has been described as a loveless home and was often neglected by his parents in favor of his two younger brothers. At age 13, Dodds began exposing himself to children passing by his house. Realizing the dangers of getting caught, he started bicycling around the streets looking for opportunities to expose himself. His parents, distracted by their own problems of getting divorced, were aware of Dodds strange sexual behavior but avoided confronting the boy about it or getting him help. Even less attention was given to Westley after his parents divorced. His desires expanded from exhibitionism to physical contact. He first molested those closest to him. His younger cousins, ages six and eight and the child of a woman his father was dating, became regular victims of his growing perversions. Entrusted Caretaker of Children Dodd grew up to be a good-looking, fairly intelligent and personable teenager. These qualities helped him in finding part-time jobs where he was entrusted with the care of children. He would often babysit for his neighbors, seizing the private time to molest the children he was caring for as they slept. He worked as a camp counselor during the summer months, taking advantage of childrens trust and admiration for him. Dodd spent most of his teen years devising new and better ways to abuse children, putting any child that came near him at potential risk of being abused. He learned how to combine the adult persona with a sense of conspiratorial camaraderie to completely control his young, innocent victims. He could cajole them into playing doctor or dare them to go skinny-dipping with him. He took advantage of their natural curiosity and often normalized what he did by offering it as a grown-up treat. But Dodd could not master not being caught. On the contrary, he got caught a lot molesting kids, starting with his first arrest at 15 for exposing himself. Tragically nothing much was ever done, but to remand him to professional counseling. Refining His Techniques The older he got the more desperate he became to find victims. He discovered he could use more force and less cajoling and began approaching children in parks, demanding that they follow him into a secluded area or that they remove their clothing. In 1981, after a failed attempt to capture two little girls was reported to the police, Dodds joined the Navy. That did not stop his pedophiliac desires which were growing into sadistic fantasies. While stationed in Washington he began hunting children who lived on the base, prowling the nearby movie theater restrooms and arcades in his spare time. A Failed System After the Navy, he got a job at a paper mill. His debased proclivities never ceased to occupy most of his thoughts and purpose. Once he offered a group of boys $50 to accompany him to a nearby motel to play strip poker. He was arrested, but the charges were dropped even though he admitted his intentions to molest them to the authorities. Not much later he was arrested again for attempted molestation and served 19 days in jail and was again ordered to seek counseling. This wouldnt be the last time Dodd was caught. In fact, it could almost appear as if he wanted to be caught after being arrested several other times for assaulting the children of friends and neighbors. But as usual, Dodds penalties rarely added up to any real jail time because many parents were reluctant to put their traumatized child through the court system. In the meantime, Dodds fantasies were escalating and he began to carefully plan his attacks. He kept a diary, filling its pages with his morbid fantasies of what he would like to do to his future victims. Diary Excerpts Incident 3 will die maybe this way: Hell be tied down as Lee was in Incident 2. Instead of placing a bag over his head as had previously planned, Ill tape his mouth shut with duct tape. Then, when ready, Ill use a clothespin or something to plug his nose. That way I can sit back, take pictures and watch him die instead of concentrating on my hands or the rope tight around his neck that would also eliminate the rope burns on the neck . . . I can clearly see his face and eyes now... He suspects nothing now. Will probably wait until morning to kill him. That way his body will be fairly fresh for experiments after work. Ill suffocate him in his sleep when I wake up for work (if I sleep). The Crimes Possibly the fact that he had now molested about 30 children with impunity helped Westley go a step further towards violence. His yearnings became increasingly difficult to control, and his fantasies darker. He went from sketching torture racks to actually building one. He stopped cajoling and persuading and began ordering. He began to tie up his victims. He became consumed with thoughts of torture, mutilation, and cannibalism. The Desire to Kill In 1987, at age 26, he could no longer ignore his desires to kill his victims. He made up his mind to do it. His first attempt failed when the eight-year-old boy Dodds lured into the woods managed to escape back to where his mother sat. He told his mother to call the police and Dodd was apprehended. Dodd received yet another slap on the wrist, in spite of the fact that prosecutors stressed his history of sex crimes. He served 118 days in jail and one-year probation. His fantasies sunk to new depths, and he began to depersonalize his targets, thinking of them as it, rather than he or she. He wrote in his diary, if I can just get it home.... On Labor Day weekend at David Douglas Park, he hid beside a trail. His plans were frustrated by hikers, watchful parents and by the whimsy of the children themselves, who would come tantalizingly close, only to dart down a side path or skip back the other way from where he hid. Dodd gave up, but the pressure to indulge his perverse and twisted desire to molest and kill a young child was overpowering and he returned to the park in the early evening hours, determined not to fail. The Neer Brothers Billy, 10, and his big brother Cole, 11, were late getting home from collecting golf balls from the local golf course, so decided to take the shortcut through the park. They came upon Dodd, blocking their way on the dirt trail. Dodd did not waste time and ordered the boys to follow him. The boys did as instructed, possibly out of fear when realizing the usually busy park was deserted so late in the day. Once off the trail, it took Dodd only 20 minutes to molest the boys, stab them and clean up the evidence. Cole took most of the abuse, probably in an attempt to save his younger brother, but nothing could save either boy from the pure evil which possessed Dodd. Dodd slashed at the boys and believing both boys were dead, he took off. Billy was found first, still alive, but he would die shortly after being taken to the hospital. Coles body was found several hours later after the Neers reported that their sons were missing and authorities knew to look for a second child. At first, Dodd worried that police would somehow link him to the murder of the Neer brothers, but Dodds unspeakable lusts were only heightened by his successful kills. His monstrous thoughts reached new depths of depravity. He pondered the greater thrill of castrating a young boy and watching the child bleed to death, or to keep him alive so that Dodd could cook the victims genitals in front of him and force feed them to the child. Possibly, he considered, the terror would actually be worse if Dodd himself ate them in front of their previous owner. Lee Iseli When Dodd realized that the police had no leads in the murders of the Neer boys, he began to plan his next move. He drove across the bridge to Portland, Oregon and cruised the parks and playgrounds, having some near misses. He finally went to a movie theater, but no opportunity to abduct a child presented itself. The next day he went to Richmond School Playground. Some older kids were playing football, but he noticed four-year-old Lee Iseli playing alone on a slide. Dodd asked little Lee if he wanted to have some fun and make some money. Lee - who had been taught not to talk to strangers - said no, but Dodd grabbed his hand and started toward his car. When Lee began to resist, Dodd told him not to worry, that Lees father had sent Dodd to pick him up. Inside Dodds apartment, Lee was subjected to unimaginable acts of abuse and torture, all carefully documented by Dodds with pictures and entries in his diary. The morning after his capture, Dodds hung Lee Iseli to death in his closet before heading off to work. He took photographs of the little boy dying and hanging dead, hid the body behind some blankets and left. After work, he made an entry in his diary that he would, have to find a place to dump the garbage, meaning the tiny tortured body of Lee Iseli. He decided to leave the boy by the Van Couver Lake and burn any evidence, except for the childs Ghostbusters underpants. Robert Iseli, Lees father, still had hope. Although Lee had been missing for several days, Mr. Iseli made a public statement expressing the hope that Lee had been taken by a lonely, but kindly person, but on the morning of November 1, 1989, all hope ended after the body of Lee Iseli was found. Capture and Confession Dodd, avoiding the local parks, decided that movie theaters would be a good place to hunt his next victim. He went to the New Liberty Theater and waited for a young child to go unattended to the restroom. He managed to get the screaming six-year-old boy outside but was captured by William Ray Graves, the boyfriend of the childs mother. Dodd was interrogated by police from Washington and Oregon, as a suspect in the murders of the Neer brothers and Lee Iseli. At first, he denied having any knowledge about the children and maintained that he only meant to molest the child from the theater. Then his whole attitude changed and he confessed to the murders, delighting in revealing the shocking details. He directed police to his diary, Lee Iselis Ghostbusters briefs, the incriminating photos, and the unused torture rack. Trial and Prosecution Dodd was charged with three counts of first-degree murder plus the attempted kidnapping from the New Liberty Theater. Against his lawyerââ¬â¢s advice, he pleaded not guilty but later changed that to guilty. It was up to a jury to decide the penalty. The district attorney made it clear the verdict he expected. He told the jury, He planned child murders. He committed child murders. He relived and fantasized child murders. With life in prison without the possibility of parole, two of those things are still available to him. The jury was then shown the diary, pictures, and other evidence. Dodds defense called no witnesses and presented no evidence. Dodds attorney, Lee Dane, did offer that no sane person would be capable of these heinous crimes. Dodd received the death sentence on July 15, 1990. No Appeals Dodd refused to appeal his death penalty and chose to hang as the method of execution, claiming he wanted to experience what Lee Iseli had experienced. He told the court, I must be executed before I have an opportunity to escape or kill someone within the prison. If I do escape, I promise you I will kill and rape and enjoy every minute of it. When You Meet a Stranger His date of execution was set for January 5, 1993. He received a lot of attention because no legal hanging had been done in the U.S. since 1965. Dodd enjoyed telling his story to the media and he wrote a pamphlet on how to avoid child molesters entitled When You Meet a Stranger. During the months before his execution, Dodds seemingly turned to the Bible for comfort. During one of his interviews, he said, I believe what the Bible teaches: Ill go to Heaven. I have doubts, but Id really like to believe that I would be able to go up to the three little boys and give them a hug and tell them how sorry I was and be able to love them with a real true love and have no desire to hurt them in any way. Last Words Westley Allan Dodd was executed at 12:05 a.m. on June 5, 1993. His final statement was, I was once asked by somebody, I dont remember who, if there was any way sex offenders could be stopped. I said, No. I was wrong. I was wrong when I said there was no hope, no peace. There is hope. There is peace. I found both in the Lord, Jesus Christ. Look to the Lord, and you will find peace. There were no apologies for his crimes, no obvious look of remorse. Outside the prison, those who were in support of the execution could be heard chanting rhymes like What the heck stretch his neck while the non-supporters wept at the news that his execution had gone on as planned. Initially, Freud described this phenomenon and conceptualized it as the transference of the therapistââ¬â¢s unresolved conflicts onto the patient (Slipp, 1999). According to his view and the emphasis he placed on the therapistââ¬â¢s neutrality, he considered countertransference a negative reaction which may hinder the therapeutic process (Gelso, 2001). Later psychoanalytic theories, however, including object relations theory, moved their focus from the intrapsychic to the interpersonal arena and suggested that countertransference originates from the interaction between therapist and patient, encompassing both the patientââ¬â¢s projections and the therapistââ¬â¢s reactions (Slipp, 1999). With this new conceptualization, countertransference emerged as a significant therapeutic parameter with both positive and negative aspects. Research has shown that unmanaged countertransference feelings may be acted out, thus having a detrimental effect on the outcome of therapy, even leading to early termination. In contrast, when countertranference is recognized and worked through, it can be useful for therapy (Heyes, 2007). Obtaining awareness of these reactions is a prerequisite for preventing them from contaminating the therapeutic alliance and the whole treatment process. Given that countertransference is partly constructed by the patientââ¬â¢s undesired projections, its detection may widen the therapistââ¬â¢s understanding of the patientââ¬â¢s inner world. In addition, the therapistââ¬â¢s reactions can be viewed as a model for the reactions of the significant others towards the patient in real life and his associated interpersonal difficulties. This is especially important in the case of personality disorders, where maladaptive patterns of interactions are perpetuated and are the source of major suffering. Treating these patients commonly triggers strong countertransference feelings, whose resolution may provide useful insight in those patientsââ¬â¢ damaged psyche. References Slipp, S. In the contemporary society, heroism is quite fragile and can be easily destroyed by the media. However, the dialogues between most actors in Fordââ¬â¢s film portray heroism as relative to the level of arrogance an individual can portray. The Man who Shot Liberty Valance sensationalizes the challenges associated with establishing political order in accordance with the rule of law. For example, Stoddard is given credit for killing Liberty Valance who had caused a lot of instability in the town through his violent actions. The wrongful credit enables Stoddard attain great political favors and he ends up a marrying Hallie, a woman who was also loved by Doniphin. Therefore, Stoddard gets fame out of an action done by Doniphon and end up taking away the woman he loved. He even ends up dying unrecognized. Therefore, the man who removed the hindrance to the developments in the town ends up unrecognized. Moreover, Stoddard confesses to a newspaper editor about the true story, the editor ignores the true story and publishes the untruthful one (Stewart, Wayne, and Miles Web). The political aspect of the film focuses on Ransom Stoddard who is considered a hero since people assume he managed to kill the dreaded Liberty Valance. However, the actual hero in the shadows of political reality is Tom Doniphon since he was responsible for the killing under question. The reality of political heroism is evident when shooting of evil Liberty Valance by a civilian is considered a depiction of heroism even in the eyes of law (Stewart, Wayne, and Miles Web). The film addresses the issue of how law shapes the political arena. The film was produced in black and white to provide the uncertainty surrounding Stoddard memories, which he is Jeff Figueroahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684154216011628996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3346326516842464439.post-68084098218437979242019-11-17T15:48:00.001-08:002019-11-17T15:48:08.317-08:00Black Cat Essay Example for Free Black Cat Essay In Poes The Black Cat, the cat acts as an instrument of justice. The story illustrates that the narrator tortures his pets. Moreover, he kills his wife and the black cat brutally. He tries his best to hide the dead body of his wife. But when the second cat screams and reveals the body to the police officers , it brought about justice to narrators wife and all those animals whom narrator had tortured. Thus the cat indirectly punishes the narrator by revealing the dead body of his wife to the corps. To begin with, the narrator is portrayed as an evil-doer in the story and he deserves punishment for his crimes. For example, the he begins to suffer violent mood swings under the influence of alcohol. He takes to mistreating not only other animals but also his wife. During this uncontrollable rage he spares only Pluto(the black cat). One night when Pluto bites his hand, he cuts out one of the cats eyes. This shows his vengeful behaviour. He keeps on committing wrong just for the sake of wrong. Then, one night he hangs the cat from a tree , where it dies.Furthermore, one day when narrator and his wife are visiting the cellar , the second cat gets under his feet and nearly trips him down the stairs . In a fury, the man grabs an axe and tries to kill the cat but is stopped by his wife. Enraged, he kills her with the axe instead. These actions of narrator throw light upon his merciless and cruel nature. Moreover , he tries to escape from punishment and hides the dead body. Thus, the action of the cat in the end of the story is completely justified.
